Tom Miles

Smiling older man on a boat with water and hills in the background.

By Tom Miles

I didn't set out to write a book. I had been reading the Bible for decades, and the Gospel of John was simply next on my list. As I read, I felt compelled to share what I was hearing, so I shared with family and friends.

For more than six months, I studied, took notes, and searched for a deeper understanding of God's Word. During that time, I often woke in the night with thoughts running through my mind, pointing me back to the text. Whenever I returned to it, I discovered there was so much more to see - truths that had been there all along.

The wedding at Cana, the Samaritan outcast, the Pool of Bethesda, the Kidron Valley, and the linens left in the tomb each revealed more than I had understood at first. Those thoughts in the night seemed to be pointing toward something much bigger.

I don't believe my experience was unusual. I believe that when we intentionally make time to read God's Word and sincerely seek to understand it, the Holy Spirit speaks to us. I didn't hear an audible voice. Instead, I sensed something unmistakable: a quiet prompting that invited me to look again, dig deeper, and keep going.

What began as a series of messages to family and friends became an unexpected walk through Scripture. My hope and prayer is that, through this book, you will experience that walk for yourself.
